EMILY AND NICK: RIDDARHUSET
An elegant wedding at Riddarhuset, Stockholm…
Proposing to the person you love is a mix of emotions with the two most prominent being nerves and excitement. When these two collide you can often get a rather impatient and excited partner as Emily found out “Nick bought the ring with the intention of waiting for the right moment to pop the question. But he was so nervous that he couldn’t bear to wait, so he ended up proposing to me the same day he got the ring – in our living room! So much for being patient and finding the right moment…at least it ended up being a huge surprise for me!”
“I actually spotted my dream dress before I even was engaged, when I visited Browns Bride with my future sister in-law who was getting married and looking at dresses. I made a mental note to come back to Browns Bride and waited for Nick to pop the question. 6 months later he did, and I immediately went back to Browns Bride to try on my dream dress! It was perfect. I loved the simple and timeless design, I felt really comfortable and beautiful in it. It reminded me of the dress Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy wore to her wedding to John F Kennedy Jr.”
“We had a very relaxed approach to organising the wedding. We didn’t want to get stressed out over small details. For us, the most important thing was that the ceremony and wedding reception felt really personal and warm. We wanted to make sure all the British guests who flew over to Stockholm for the weekend felt welcome. Although we had a very formal dress code (White Tie), which we felt suited the beautiful and historical venue, we wanted everything else to feel relaxed and unpretentious. I think especially the British guests really enjoyed that aspect, as English weddings can feel slightly formal.”
“For shoes, I choose Manolo Blanik’s metallic d’Orsays, which is such a classic model. I wore very simple diamond jewellery; a diamond necklace from De Beers, I borrowed a vintage diamond and pearl bracelet from one of my bridesmaids. My earrings were from Andrew Prince which I got at Browns Bride“
“I wanted both my hair and make-up to look really natural. I didn’t wear much makeup at all. My hair was pulled back in a loose bun”

Swedish weddings are usually all about having a GREAT party with lots of speeches during dinner!”
Top-Tip? “It might sound obvious, but on the actual wedding day, make sure you relax and enjoy every second. You have to rely on everyone doing their job without requiring you to watch over them or telling them what to do.”
