FREYA ROSE BLOG TAKEOVER: DAY 2
Today is an early start with coffee and breakfast on the move. There are numerous technical details to cover. We visit the last makers, sole makers and heel factory to perfect the lines of some of our latest styles. The tiniest alteration to the important ‘top line’ of the shoe (just 1-2 mm) can transform not only the glamorous look but also the ergonomic fit. I am rigid about quality and my soles need to be ultra thin with a bevelled edge and a beautiful suede finish.
We then head to a meeting to discuss the inspiration for our 2016 collection and the new material collections. I have already started conceptualising my 2016 collection and the inspirations behind it, which will influence the choices of materials selected.
The new collection is inspired by the vibrancy of poppy fields and orange groves, the delicacy of Almond Blossom (with their Japanese aesthetic and Van Gogh’s beautiful artistic interpretation of them). I have also been hugely inspired by the architecture of 16th century Catholic churches.
