Désir à L’Anglaise

Vera Wang’s latest collection Désir à L’Anglaise has now arrived in it’s entirety at our Brooke Street store in Mayfair. Regal and ostentatious; the eleven-piece collection was inspired by the opulence of historic British aristocracy and the theatrical attire that was worn by the monarchy. From theatrical ball gowns to ornate slinky dresses, this collection is an assemblage of romantic drama. The defined corsets and high ruffled collars are reminiscent of Tudor fashion with a very modern twist. Long bone-structured corsets sit on top of floor sweeping skirts, creating exaggerated silhouettes.

Vera Wang experiments by combining the use of flamboyant, heavy contouring with fine, delicate lace adorned with pearls. There are few designers who succeed in designing such extravagant gowns whilst still maintaining a romantic feel. Vera Wang no doubt breaks the rules when it comes to wedding dress designing and has masterfully drawn from her historic inspiration to create an entirely modern and avante-garde collection.
