Vivienne Westwood Galaxy Cape Wedding Dress

Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood began designing in 1971 along with her then partner Malcolm McLaren in London. At the time they used their shop at 430 Kings Road, London, to showcase their ideas and designs. With their changing ideas of fashion came the change of not only the name of the shop but also the décor. It was in 1976 when Westwood and McLaren defined the street culture of Punk with Seditionaries.

By the end of the seventies Vivienne Westwood was already considered a symbol of the British avant-garde and for Autumn/Winter 1981 she showed her first catwalk presentation at Olympia in London. Westwood then turned to traditional Savile Row tailoring techniques, using British fabrics and 17th and 18th century art for inspiration.

1989 was the year that Vivienne met Andreas Kronthaler, who would later become her husband and long-time design partner, as well as Creative Director of the brand. In 2004 the Victoria & Albert museum, London, hosted a Vivienne Westwood retrospective exhibition to celebrate her then 34 years in fashion – the largest exhibition ever devoted to a living British fashion designer. In 2006, her contribution to British Fashion was officially recognised when she was appointed Dame of the British Empire by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and in 2007 was awarded the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Fashion’ at the British Fashion Awards in London.

Vivienne Westwood is one of the last independent global fashion companies in the world. At times thought provoking, this brand is about more than producing clothes and accessories. Westwood continues to capture the imagination, and raise awareness of environmental and human rights issues. With a design record spanning over forty years, Vivienne Westwood is now recognized as a global brand and Westwood herself as one of the most influential fashion designers, and activists, in the world today.

Vivienne Westwood prices range from £3,100 – £12,200

  • Vivienne Westwood Galaxy Cape Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The Galaxy Cape is a new interpretation of the Galaxy dress, which was originally created for the red carpet, featuring a cinched waist and draped neckline inspired by the classic Vivienne Westwood Ball Tie gown. The gown is created in pearl white FSC-certified crepe satin, with a contrasting silk georgette drape across the décolletage, certified as organic, and 18th-century Watteau style train for added drama.

The length of the hem can be increased for taller brides, just as the train can be extended by an extra 20cm. The Watteau train may also be extended or shortened, upon request.

This dress is available in crepe satin with a georgette cape certified as organic. The crepe satin comprises 73% acetate and 27% viscose, both certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This guarantees wood fibres used in fabrics we source come from FSC™ certified forests that have been audited by a third-party on their environmental, social and economic standards. We also partner with Canopy to support their goal of protecting the world’s forests by working to eliminate Ancient and Endangered Forests from wood fibre sourcing for fabrics and packaging.

The Nova Cocotte is a gown with great historical influence, first designed for the Autumn-Winter 2005/06 Vive La Cocotte collection. The corset and neckline are inspired by fashionable high society women of the 18th-century – which sweeps across the shoulders and cinches at the waist. The skirt falls from the hip in a soft slim A-line, folding and flowing delicately to create a drape reminiscent of ancient Greek statues.

  • Vivienne Westwood Nova Grace Wedding Dress

First designed for the red carpet, the Nova Grace gown in ivory soft stretch satin is timeless. The figure-hugging pencil skirt and overskirt, which adds extra volume give the gown dimension. With a removeable off the shoulder strap, the corset can be altered to create an asymmetric look.

  • Vivienne Westwood Mini Bagatelle Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The Mini Bagatelle is a new development of the popular Nova Bagatelle, inspired by the iconic blindfolded bride from the Spring-Summer 1997 collection, ‘Vive La Bagatelle.’ The gown creates a regal silhouette with a cinched waist and a romantic, off-the-shoulder draped neckline. This year, the style is offered as a mini skirt, featuring deep pleats. The Mini Bagatelle is offered in three fabrications this year, in double duchesse, faille and Moire fabrics.

  • Vivienne Westwood Tabitha Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

As a reinterpretation of the iconic ‘Bird of Paradise’ dress, which originally appeared in the Spring-Summer 2005 Gold Label show – Ultra Femininity, the Tabitha encapsulates the grandeur of the Baroque age. The layering of drapes in the upper part of the gown flows into a delicately bias-cut circle skirt revealing a side slit, remaining faithful to Vivienne’s approach of celebrating femininity.

  • Vivienne Westwood Mabel Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The rounded regal neckline of the Mabel sweeps elegantly across the shoulders, over a classic corset silhouette that cinches at the waist. The style marries elements of the popular Nova Cocotte and Cora Cocotte gowns, with the bodice echoing the neckline shape of both styles. The gown features a delicately draped skirt, complete with a cascading train, lending the style an air of opulence. The design is finished with a sultry side-slit, creating an elongated figure. The Mabel is offered in a pearl white heavy silk satin, or in an opaline silk cady.

  • Vivienne Westwood Joy Mini Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The Joy mini dress offers a playful iteration of the Victoria ballgown, from our 2025 Made to Order collection, which itself draws inspiration from the iconic Cloud dress — first seen in the Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Autumn-Winter 2007/08, ‘Wake Up Cave Girl’ show, and later immortalised in 2008 as Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding dress in Sex and the City. The Joy gown features a delicately draped corset with a defined waist, from which a voluminous mini skirt emerges. Crafted using the signature Vivienne Westwood diamond pattern-cutting technique, the skirt is built from diamond-shaped panels and enhanced with precise top-stitching, celebrating both structure and sculptural beauty, with contemporary flair.

  • Vivienne Westwood Doll Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The Doll dress reveals a corseted mini silhouette, inspired by the fully crystalised red couture mini worn by Taylor Swift at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The design captures the same striking form, presenting a more romantic, bridal iteration. Offered in heavy silk satin for a pearlescent finish or in silk double georgette for a softer, matte drape, the design features an asymmetric one-shoulder neckline and a layered draped skirt, balancing structure with playful movement.

  • Vivienne Westwood Maverick Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The Maverick dress presents a masterfully draped asymmetric silhouette, where carefully placed volumes sculpt a striking hourglass figure. A structured, sideswiped pleated skirt conceals a hidden side slit, while the fabric on the bust folds like delicate petals, creating a bold interplay of form and movement. Embodying the unmistakable DNA of the house, the Maverick is a statement of modern elegance and craftmanship. This design is offered in three fabric variations, each enhancing its sculptural effect.

  • Vivienne Westwood Darling Wedding Dress

    Price available on request

The Darling dress weaves together influences from the Marie Antoinette gown of the 2021 Bridal Couture collection, and the Chichi dress from the Spring-Summer 2025 collection. Crafted for the modern bride, its silhouette is rich in intricate construction. A twisted drape graces the bust, forming a soft sweetheart neckline, while a dropped waist corset gently sculpts the hourglass figure. The multi-layered tulle skirt floats like a delicate cloud, both ethereal and light. Offered in tulle layered over fine Chantilly lace or in the Presence of Blooms printed tulle, the gown evokes the romance of a secret garden in full bloom.
